West Covina Planning Commission Planning Commission Meeting
The Commission held a public hearing regarding a conditional land use permit application for an existing gas station to sell beer and wine for off-premises consumption. Key discussions focused on security and surveillance requirements outlined in the proposed approval conditions. Specifically, the commission debated a clause that authorized the police department to mandate enhanced surveillance technology, such as license plate recognition cameras. The discussion resulted in a decision to modify the approval by removing the specific language regarding enhanced surveillance technology due to concerns regarding potential liability, while retaining the rest of the permit conditions.
