This document presents the City of Port Wentworth's vision for transformative development, centered around significant public investments in Anchor Park. It highlights key components including the VyStar Pavilion, Ice Cove Arena, and The Port Collective, designed to establish a vibrant civic district. The plan aims to foster community gathering, attract private capital, drive economic growth through job creation and increased tourism, and strategically position the city to capitalize on regional economic forces.

The Zoning Board of Appeals considered a variance application regarding a property at 205 S Coastal Hwy. The application requested a reduction in the rear building setback from the required 20 feet to approximately 10 feet and a reduction in the required number of parking spaces to facilitate the expansion of an existing commercial site into a mixed-use building featuring residential units, office space, and retail.

The City Council meeting covered multiple agenda items, including the adoption of the Chatham County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Savannah for infrastructure improvements in the Benton Boulevard/Highlands corridor. The Council also considered a zoning map amendment for 640 Meinhard Road, proposing to rezone property from R-1 to C-1 for office use. Additionally, ordinances were introduced to regulate speed limits and commercial truck traffic on Coastal Highway, and to update traffic violation penalties and codify the traffic violations bureau.

The Council meeting involved several proclamations including Georgia Cities Week, Fair Housing Month, Child Abuse Prevention Month, Autism Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Financial Literacy Month. The City Manager provided updates on various community events, infrastructure projects, and the progress of the recreation department initiatives. Legal counsel updated the council on ongoing litigation and a successful ruling regarding revenue bonds. New business included the approval of several zoning map amendments to facilitate industrial and commercial development, and the adoption of a moratorium on new mobile home and manufactured housing permits.

The council discussed and approved a resolution authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Port Wentworth Downtown Development Authority. This agreement relates to a project involving financing through financial notes.
