This strategic plan outlines the department's mission to provide a high-quality student-centered learning environment, preparing students for professional careers and advanced study in speech-language pathology and audiology. Key strategic goals include advancing educational excellence through evidence-based teaching and research, promoting diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff, strengthening local and global communities through expanded clinical services and outreach, infusing diversity throughout academic and clinical curricula, and attracting and supporting outstanding undergraduate and graduate students.

This President's Report for 2025 highlights Western Washington University's achievements, initiatives, and financial performance, reflecting on the past year's innovations, resilience, and community engagement. The Board of Trustees meeting covered several key areas. An update on the waterfront expansion project was provided, highlighting progress and future plans. The 2016-2017 operating budget was approved, including a 15% reduction in the state-funded resident undergraduate operating fee and a 2.9% increase in tuition fees for other categories. The budget also included funding for competitive compensation, diversity initiatives, and other program enhancements. Finally, resolutions recognizing the service of President Bruce Shepard and Cyndie Shepard were approved.

The board went into executive session to discuss personnel matters and a tort claim against the university. The board authorized the president or designee to consider and authorize settlement terms to resolve the matter concerning Wendy Page Dvorak.
