The community budget hearing for the fiscal year 2026-2027 focused on the proposed city budget and sought input from residents. The session included a presentation on financial projections, including the General Fund surplus, and details on planned investments in public safety, parks, housing stability, and municipal infrastructure. Community members expressed concerns regarding the need for support funds for families affected by immigration enforcement, the impact of rising energy costs on low-income households, and a request for a more transparent budget development process that actively includes community participation.

The City Council held a special meeting to conduct interviews for the position of Chief Presiding Judge of the Phoenix Municipal Court. The council reviewed qualifications and professional experiences of three candidates to narrow down the selection process. This strategic plan for Phoenix aims to achieve significant progress in addressing homelessness by 2029, outlining five key objectives: preventing new instances of homelessness, reducing both unsheltered and sheltered populations, decreasing the duration of homelessness, expanding housing options, and enhancing service awareness and effectiveness. The plan emphasizes transforming the city's approach to homelessness, ensuring it is brief if it occurs, and providing stable housing with necessary support, underpinned by focus areas including prevention, system control, neighborhood safety, coordination, and housing initiatives.
