City Council Comprehensive Plan Review Workshop Minutes
The City Council conducted a workshop to review the Comprehensive Plan, specifically focusing on chapters 4 (Public Facilities), 5 (Conservation), and 6 (Recreation and Open Space). Key discussions included the importance of maintaining the city's small-town character, addressing housing affordability, managing future growth, and preserving historic downtown areas. The Council discussed infrastructure needs, including water and sewer systems, stormwater management, traffic congestion, and the potential for new road connections. Representatives from the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC) provided an overview of the Evaluation and Appraisal Review process and discussed the integration of community feedback into the plan update. The Council reached a consensus to proceed with obtaining a revised scope from TCRPC that includes Future Land Use, Transportation, and Housing, alongside public engagement strategies. Additionally, the Council addressed long-term visions for future development, including the role of homeowners' associations and the prioritization of park maintenance and underserved neighborhoods.
