The committee convened to review and discuss several sabbatical leave proposals submitted by faculty members. Additionally, members reviewed distributed materials related to research methodologies from a published academic handbook to inform their evaluations.

The committee reviewed and approved the revised sabbatical leave RFP and rubric. Discussions were held regarding the proposed composition of the CPTC, with the committee agreeing to support language requiring a majority of full professors. The committee received a status report on the review of disciplinary standards for new hires and addressed the need for departments to update references to the PRD in their disciplinary standards.

The council held an organizational meeting to introduce members and elect a co-chair. The primary discussion focused on outlining the schedule of topics for the upcoming year, which includes campus safety trends, asset renewal, the capital plan, operating maintenance projects, capital campaigns, campus town development, campus parking, facility management software usage, sustainability initiatives regarding recycling and transportation, campus signage, and the housing master plan.

The council received a presentation from the Director of Construction regarding updates on current and planned major campus construction projects for the 2013/2014 academic year.

The council conducted a community engagement review of the Campus Town Project presented by consultants. The discussion resulted in several recommendations, including marketing the complex at college events, surveying faculty and staff, incorporating a restaurant or bar into the retail mix, creating student employment and internship opportunities during the development phases, purchasing student art, and scheduling open forums for further project feedback.
