Judson Board of Trustees Special Board Meeting
The board discussed the possibility of calling for a tax rate ratification election (Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election or VATRE). Members expressed divided opinions on the timing of such an election, with concerns raised regarding current district instability, academic focus, and the need to build community trust before seeking additional funding. A report from the finance committee highlighted significant risks to passing a VATRE, including existing board member opposition, ongoing lawsuits, potential state intervention, and pending academic performance ratings. Ultimately, the board debated whether current conditions were conducive to a successful election campaign.
