This document presents a Solid Waste Collection and Diversion Study for the City of Camrose, aiming to recommend a comprehensive, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective waste management system. The strategic recommendations focus on establishing clear waste reduction goals, optimizing waste collection through bag/cart limits and automated systems, and enhancing recycling options including curbside collection and expanded material acceptance. Furthermore, the plan emphasizes improving composting facilities and programs, increasing commercial waste diversion through bans and specialized programs, transforming the landfill into a resource recovery facility, and expanding public education and social marketing initiatives to foster greater community participation and achieve higher diversion rates. The plan sets targets for waste reduction by 2015.

The plan also aims to address poverty, review community peace officer resourcing, complete a cultural master plan, adopt events tourism strategies, and enhance governance and organizational effectiveness through various reviews and strategies.

The City of Camrose is developing a 25-year Community Vision and municipal development plan to ensure a healthy, inclusive, prosperous, and resilient city for current and future generations. The plan will guide land use planning, economic, social, cultural, and ecological development. The project is expected to take approximately 18 months and relies on extensive community engagement through multiple phases and activities.
