The Whittier Union High School District's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) outlines the utilization of state funds to serve students and improve educational outcomes. The plan focuses on four main goals: fostering organizational vision through qualified staff and effective resource management, providing high-quality curriculum and instruction, implementing robust assessment and accountability systems, and cultivating a supportive school culture for student personal and academic growth. It aims to enhance student achievement, engagement, and post-secondary readiness by emphasizing professional development, data-informed decision-making, comprehensive support services, and strong community involvement.
The Board meeting included community comments regarding robotics and alumni events, and the approval of the consent calendar, which covered travel on school business, various service contracts, and new courses of study for the 2026-2027 school year. The Board also reviewed revisions to the facility naming policy and approved updates to several board policies. Additionally, resolutions were passed to rescind the intent to withdraw from the regional occupational program, to enter into an energy conservation services contract, and to approve the 2026-2027 district local control and accountability plan and budget. The meeting concluded with the approval of a personnel report.
The meeting featured a joint session between the two school districts focused on strengthening collaborative partnerships and student success. A key agenda item included a presentation titled 'Building the Bridge: A Shared Commitment to Future Readiness in the Whittier Community,' which outlined current and future joint articulation strategies. Board members discussed the importance of continued inter-district collaboration and expressed appreciation for the partnership.
