Jefferson County Commission Commission Meeting
The Jefferson County Commission convened to discuss and authorize the implementation of stage one fire restrictions on private property within the county. The decision was driven by concerns regarding dry fuel conditions, elevated fire danger, and limited regional and national firefighting resources. The approved resolution institutes a ban on all campfires. Officials clarified that the current measures do not necessitate stage two restrictions, which would affect commercial activities like chainsaw use and off-road travel, though the situation remains subject to change. The commission confirmed coordination with state and federal land management agencies, noting that while other agencies will align with the county's restrictions, incorporated municipalities such as Boulder and Whitehall maintain their own regulatory authority.
