The committee discussed the purpose of the evaluation rubric and conducted a site walkthrough at Franklin Elementary School. Following the walkthrough, the committee engaged in a debriefing session to address various questions regarding student pride, shade options, nurse staffing, medical training, bullying, safety concerns, and classroom display policies. The committee evaluated the campus expectations, resulting in mostly effective ratings, and provided suggestions for improvement such as increased signage. Additionally, the committee noted positive observations about the campus culture and proposed discussing shade concerns at the next meeting to potentially issue a recommendation to the Superintendent.

The Board engaged in several significant discussions and actions, including public comments regarding safety and transparency in special education classrooms, salary negotiations, and the renaming process of Cesar Chavez Elementary School. Key recognitions included BCSD Education Foundation directors and staff, contest winners, and administrative appointments. The Board approved several resolutions designating awareness months and special recognition weeks, including Mental Health Awareness Month and Day of the Teacher. Additionally, the Board reviewed and approved numerous contracts for facility improvements, consultant services, summer learning programs, and technology platform renewals. Financial matters, such as budget reports, stipends for administrators, and the payment of warrants, were also addressed and approved.

The meeting included a review of recommendations made to the Board of Education and a report on community feedback regarding a recent district event. Updates were provided concerning the district's presentation at the NSBA Conference and future plans for the 2022-2023 school year, focusing on the PROUD Academy, extracurricular activities, and initiatives to build a culture of literacy during the summer months. Additionally, there was an overview of the Early College Program, a discussion on student enrollment systems, and feedback from committee members regarding district inclusion efforts and upcoming partnerships for student programs.

The committee meeting included a review of the committee charge and the work of the design team. Participants engaged in a review of student hopes, dreams, and aspirations, as well as a group discussion to evaluate and develop an understanding of the concepts behind various competency selections.

The committee meeting focused on reviewing the final changes to the District, Culture, Climate, and Safety Rubric, as well as establishing the meeting schedule and format for the 2022-2023 term.
