Parsons Strategic Plan 2021-2025
The Parsons, WV strategic plan focuses on revitalizing the downtown area by growing businesses, providing adequate housing, and promoting community engagement. The plan outlines four key outcomes: 1) Recreation: promoting and utilizing recreational assets to build a recreational economy and improve quality of life; 2) Housing: developing and maintaining quality housing choices for all; 3) Business and Buildings: creating a supportive business community; and 4) Community Engagement: encouraging residents and visitors to connect and collaborate. Specific tasks within each outcome include improving wayfinding signage, supporting downtown businesses, developing Riverside Park, completing the Allegheny Highlands Trail, developing lodging options, conducting a housing needs assessment, supporting housing developers, promoting available housing, redeveloping the BOE building, developing a housing project on the former Lansberry building site, completing the PRO Plaza building, completing the First Street Pocket Park, creating a Business and Recreation Committee, completing Phase 1 of the Parsons Economic Development Authority's Industrial Park, implementing a Parsons Community Loan Fund, holding community-wide events, and promoting committees, social media, and a website. The overall goal is to create a safe, friendly, welcoming community with a vibrant downtown and a strong, sustainable economy.
