The strategic plan is dedicated to supporting the educational and cultural academic needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students within Scotland County Schools, with the goal of enabling them to meet challenging academic standards. The vision is for every American Indian student in Scotland County to graduate with a rigorous, culturally-defined education, preparing them as lifelong learners who are ready for college and careers.

The Scotland County Schools budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 includes no expansion items, but maintains current educational programs by preventing additional staffing reductions and avoiding the elimination of valuable student services. The local current expense budget reflects an increase from the 2014-2015 approved appropriation. There are increased business expenses, including insurance and operating deficits due to federal and state funding shortfalls year over year. State mandated increases for employee benefits are attributable to legislative activities within the North Carolina General Assembly. The capital outlay budget features a list of prioritized capital needs. The capital outlay appropriation has enabled the school district to address only the most urgent needs through repair or replacement. The cost of maintaining core services and providing necessary materials and supplies has continued to grow.

The Scotland County Schools AIG plan for 2022-2025 focuses on providing services to academically or intellectually gifted students, ensuring they reach their full potential. The plan emphasizes collaboration among parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community members to implement a strong program. Key goals include utilizing assessments to recognize AIG students, providing enrichment opportunities, offering diverse service options, supporting talent development, and fostering ongoing professional development for educators. The plan also aims to involve parents and the community, monitor service success, and continuously improve the AIG program.
