The board engaged in a thoughtful and respectful discussion regarding the College of the Holy Cross's use of the name 'Crusaders'. It was concluded that the institution will continue to use the name, with the understanding that the identity of the community is tied to commitments to social justice, intellectual life, critical thinking, and care for the underserved, rather than historical religious wars. The board also emphasized the importance of assessing how this name is depicted on campus and in official publications to ensure it remains appropriate and relevant to modern values.
