This Stormwater Management Program Plan (SMPP) was developed by Leyden Township to meet the minimum standards required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II program. The plan aims to reduce the discharge of pollutants within stormwater runoff to protect water quality. Key focus areas include Public Education and Outreach, Public Participation/Involvement, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination, Construction Site Runoff Control, Post-Construction Runoff Control, and Pollution Prevention/Good Housekeeping. The intended outcomes are cleaner lakes and streams, improved recreational opportunities, flood damage reduction, better aesthetics and wildlife habitat, and a safer, healthier environment for citizens.
The meeting included discussions on various financial matters, such as the Treasurer's Report, approval of bills and expenditures, and cash balances across different funds. Reports were presented by the Supervisor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner, Assessor, Township Administrator, and various committees covering social services, local government, recreation, and sewer & water. New business included resolutions related to disaster relief services, employee insurance coverage, workers compensation insurance, consultant services, property proceedings, a Pace Paratransit agreement, and ordinances for tax levies for Leyden Township, Westdale Park District, Special Refuse Collection District, Bond Debt Service Fund, and the Leyden Township Road District.
The Leyden Township Plan Commission will hold a public hearing to review the Proposed Township Comprehensive Plan.
