Clay County Commission Business Session
The business session commenced with an invocation and the pledge of allegiance led by a scout. A key ceremonial matter involved the recognition of Deputy Chase Blat for his intervention in saving a student in distress, an action praised by commissioners and the Sheriff for exemplary public service. During public comments, a resident raised concerns regarding the proliferation of data centers in the region, presenting considerations for policy development related to transparency, sustainability measures (including renewable energy, water reuse, and green roofs), infrastructure strain offset, and light pollution prevention. The consent agenda included the approval of commission meeting minutes from December and invoice payments for the period of January 31st through February 13th. Additionally, the consent agenda contained three ordinances related to the reappropriation and revision of the adopted budget for the juvenile department, specifically concerning grants and funds for physical year domestic relations resolutions and the division of youth services contract with the ER department. Finally, approval was sought for an equipment and support agreement with Tipton Systems for a check scanner for the collector's office.
