The City Council conducted a special meeting to address a closed session item regarding labor negotiations. Key discussion topics included a proclamation for National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day, a presentation on water safety and drowning prevention, and a report from the Cajon Valley Union School District on their collaborative safety and security initiatives with the local police department.

The agenda included items related to city operations, such as the approval of grant funding for the Parkway Plaza Land-Use Plan, adoption of ordinances, and financial considerations involving insurance fund appropriations. Additionally, the Council planned to discuss the adjustment of the SANDAG Regional Transportation Congestion Improvement Program fee, review a petition for a downtown community benefit district, and conduct closed sessions regarding labor negotiations and potential litigation.

The City Council meeting included the swearing-in of a new Chief of Police and the issuance of a proclamation for National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The Planning Commission discussed the conversion of an existing three-unit residential development at 1415 Oakdale Avenue into a common interest development with an associated homeowners association. The commission also considered a proposal from Kadinu Academy to convert an existing commercial office building into a charter school serving students from TK through second grade, which included details regarding traffic management, site safety, and proposed parking lot modifications for outdoor play areas.
