It also sets forth teacher expectations, establishes three core digital learning goals with corresponding action items, and includes a co-curricular expansion strategy to support student enrichment and real-world projects through clubs and partnerships.

This document presents the proceedings of the Plano ISD District-Based Improvement Committee meeting held on May 12, 2020. The meeting focused on reviewing the District Improvement Plan's progress in teaching and learning, discussing accountability updates, and initiating the process to define the 2025-26 District Priorities. This document provides updates on the Plano Independent School District's Balanced Literacy Model, outlining a multi-year plan from 2019 to 2022. The plan focuses on key strategic pillars including the understanding and implementation of new Reading/Language Arts TEKS, the PISD Balanced Literacy Model itself, and a reliable reading assessment system. The board received a presentation on the BLAST program, which stands for Building Leadership and Academic Strengths Together. The program, piloted at Shepton High School and Otto Middle School, focuses on enhancing academic skills and building leadership qualities in students through strength identification, peer tutoring, and collaboration. Teachers and student representatives shared their experiences regarding improved confidence, academic performance, and the development of mentorship relationships among students. The discussion also covered the selection criteria for student participation and the program's long-term goals for student development.
