The Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) for the Lansing Board of Water & Light outlines a 20-year strategy to identify and evaluate long-term resource strategies, ensure compliance with Michigan Public Act 235 (PA 235), and assess the financial implications for the utility and its customers. The plan emphasizes providing safe, reliable, and affordable utility service through public ownership, climate consciousness, and innovative strategies, while managing electric load growth, enhancing system reliability, optimizing generation resource options, and responding to public policy changes. It models five resource scenarios and four load sensitivities, recommending a path that prioritizes wind energy, local solar, and battery energy storage systems, with an overarching vision to achieve 100% clean energy by 2040.
