School Committee Meeting
The meeting focused primarily on the presentation of two proposed budgets for FY27: one assuming the passage of a local override, and one assuming it does not pass (level funding scenario). Key discussion points included the criteria used for budget reductions and reallocations, which prioritized staying strategic, student-centered, and sustainable. The presentation also provided an overview of enrollment trends, noting that actual enrollment exceeded projections for the current year, and discussed the shift in student population from elementary to secondary levels, as well as changes in focal group populations such as low-income and students with disabilities. Public comment focused on the need for greater budget transparency, particularly regarding the classification of funds within special education versus general education categories.
