The Commission held an informational workshop to receive a presentation and discuss the draft Unified Development Code (UDC). The discussion included a history of the UDC development, its purpose as a technical document for implementing city policies, and its alignment with the comprehensive plan. Staff reviewed key chapters of the UDC, the consensus-based approach taken in drafting, and how the new code updates design standards and zoning districts for future development, including infill and adaptive reuse projects. The commission was invited to provide feedback and proposed amendments for future consideration.

The City Council meeting featured public comments concerning a proposal to increase the allowable number of backyard chickens based on residential lot size, a presentation on a message of unity from the Baháʼí community, and an introduction from the CEO of Landmark Homes regarding a potential residential housing project. Additionally, several residents expressed significant concerns regarding speeding and pedestrian safety on 118th Place, requesting the implementation of traffic calming measures. A representative from the Jeffco Economic Development Council spoke in support of a proposed active adult community project, highlighting its anticipated economic benefits, including investment, job creation, and economic output.

Engineering staff noted that the land use change would not negatively impact the local transportation system, and the commission moved to recommend city council approval for the amendments.
