Guided by values such as community focus, customer service excellence, integrity, fun, and belonging, the plan focuses on key priorities including invigorating parks, expanding and upgrading vibrant facilities, delivering dynamic offerings and experiences, fostering an engaged community through communication and collaboration, growing stronger finances, and cultivating a thriving employee culture.

The Elmhurst Park District Board of Commissioners held a meeting to discuss several key items. They approved the purchase of the Redeemer Center property for $5,500,000 and authorized the Executive Director to secure financing for the purchase. The Board reviewed the Vision 2020 strategic plan, including plans for a new Adult Center and improvements to park maintenance. A mid-year progress report on the Vision 2020 plan was also reviewed and approved. Additionally, the second quarter financial report was presented, and Commissioner Kies provided information regarding Park Palooza attendance.

The meeting addressed the removal of the mini playground at Cottage Hill and Seminole, and concerns about communication regarding the removal. There were concerns raised about the Park Board's committee structure and compliance with the Open Meetings Act. The contract and articles of agreement for the Gateway program services were reviewed. The board approved the seal coating project for various parking lots. The release of closed session minutes from March 11, 2019, was approved, while confidential status was retained for numerous other closed session minutes. Staff provided announcements regarding community reengagement for Vision 2020, the filing of the 2018 Treasurer's Report, the start of work on the 2020 budget, IT plans for releasing the pool rental calendar online, tree memorial plaque installations, the completion status of the Berens Park east parking lot asphalt project, turf maintenance and tree care, the Pop up Party in the Park, the upcoming Movie in the Park, and the near completion of the Salt Creek Greenway Trail connector project.
