The committee reviewed the Institutional Official Review and Research Committee minutes. New business included the review of Recombinant DNA Protocol 265 regarding research on novel genes in inflammatory diseases, which was approved pending specific clarifications on host pathogenicity, vector replication, gene characteristics, safety measures, and chemical handling. Additionally, an addendum to Recombinant DNA Protocol 250-1 was reviewed and approved to update the list of participating investigators.

The committee reviewed the Institutional Official Research Review Committee minutes and discussed a Recombinant DNA protocol regarding the evolution of Escherichia coli. Specific feedback was formulated for the principal investigator, covering experimental documentation, definitions, and biosafety protocols. The protocol was approved pending the required corrections.

The committee discussed the scheduling of the upcoming 2025 laboratory inspections for both the main and north campuses. No other business items or reports were presented.

The committee reviewed and approved four amendments to recombinant DNA protocols involving Staphylococcus aureus research and Escherichia coli growth experiments. Discussion for several protocols included requirements for principal investigators to refine scientific objective descriptions and provide clearer justifications for proposed changes. One protocol amendment required the addition of a formal title and clarification regarding the impact of new genetic additions on existing research objectives.
