Acs Board Meeting
The meeting commenced with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence, followed by presentations. The initial segment focused on recognizing classified employees with the Class Act Award, specifically honoring Valerie Speakman, General Counsel, for her dedication, legal guidance, policy input, and voluntary coaching of Model UN students. Subsequently, the board recognized several parent volunteers receiving the IKEA award from various schools, including Abby Valer (from an unstated school, possibly AES), Summer Maul (Arlington Elementary School), Amanda Schmidt (AMS), Joy Walker (Arlington Middle School, absent), Lakesha Anderson (Arlington High School), Sabrina Schultz (Arlington High School), Rachel Silvers (Donaldson Elementary School), and Ashley Walker (Donaldson Elementary School). The principals then presented on Board Appreciation Month (shifted to February due to snow break), which included student presentations of gifts, such as digital business cards and engraved pens/notebooks from the AHS STEM department, and artwork from AMS Art One students depicting school buildings. A special note was presented for Jenny Morgan.
