The Town Council introduced and adopted an ordinance adding subsection D to section 12.20.500 of the Town of Mammoth Lakes Municipal Code, concerning skateboard and in-line skating facilities owned or operated by the town. The ordinance specifies that individuals using such facilities must wear helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads. It also prohibits the use of bicycles on the skating surface of the Volcom Brothers Skate Park.

The strategic plan of the Parks and Recreation Department focuses on delivering high-quality recreation facilities and diverse programming to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors. The plan is structured around four strategic initiatives: excellence, teamwork, sustainability, and health, safety, and social equity. Key objectives include investing in the town's recreation amenities through capital projects and planned maintenance, delivering high-quality, affordable, and sustainable recreation programming, and building capacity to enhance and expand programming through partnerships and employee development. The plan also aims to develop a new Parks and Recreation Master Plan for the next 10 years or longer.

The Mammoth Lakes Advisory Design Panel will review the minutes from a previous meeting (July 25, 2024). Key agenda items include a major design review for the Mammoth Hospital North Wing Expansion Project (DR 24-008) and an application for a major change to the approved Rockspring resort condominium development project at 6060 Minaret Road (TTM 24-002, UPA 24-001, and DR 24-001).

The Design Committee reviewed and delayed approval of the minutes from the December 15, 2022 meeting to a future meeting. The committee considered Design Review 23-001 for a four-unit affordable housing project at 60 Joaquin Road, focusing on design elements and the Town's Density Bonus Program. Discussion included snow storage and the need to adjust the design of the side and rear exterior walls. The commissioners supported the project, pending improvements to the rear and side walls.

The Town Council's strategic priorities for 2025 focus on supporting a resilient, vibrant, and sustainable community through civic engagement and strong partnerships. Key areas include enhancing municipal services, expanding housing opportunities with a focus on affordable housing, and improving recreational offerings. The plan aims to balance quality of life and exceptional experiences for all citizens by leveraging partnerships, developing community foundations, and maximizing community benefits from development projects, while also prioritizing public safety and environmental sustainability.
