The strategic plan of Chimacum Schools is centered around creating a caring community for courageous learners, where every student is known by name, strength, and need. It focuses on building authentic relationships, fostering collaboration, ensuring instructional quality, promoting inclusion and belonging, and cultivating wellness. The plan aims to improve student engagement, academic achievement, and overall wellbeing through strong community partnerships, aligned instruction, relevant curriculum, and equitable practices.

It also emphasizes intentional collaboration to strengthen student engagement with learning, providing relevant professional development, and developing staff and data literacy. The plan aims to improve student outcomes through accessible, relevant, engaging, and rigorous instruction, while building a culture of inclusion and belonging, and promoting wellness through healthy food, relationships, and a positive environment.

The 2019-2020 Chimacum Elementary School Improvement Plan focuses on improving academic achievement and school climate. Key areas of focus include enhancing student achievement in ELA and math through curriculum implementation (Bridges in Mathematics, Journeys ELA), targeted interventions (Fountas & Pinnell), and professional development. The plan also addresses school climate through positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), increased student attendance, and reduced bullying. Community engagement is a priority, involving partnerships and family events. The plan utilizes multiple data sources (MAP, SBA, SWIS) to inform instruction and track progress toward SMART goals in ELA and math, aiming for 60% of students in grades 3-5 to meet or exceed standards on the SBA. Extended learning opportunities and professional development for staff are also key components.

This policy outlines procedures for the annual organizational meeting of the board of directors, including the election of a chair and vice chair, and the selection of a legislative representative in even-numbered years. The meeting also covers the superintendent's role as board secretary and the appointment of a recording secretary. The normal order of business is modified to include welcoming new board members, nominations and elections for chair and vice chair.

The meeting included discussion on school start times, including the impacts on transportation. A presentation was given on transportation operations, covering routes, student numbers, and the effects of the pandemic. Legislative advocacy was discussed, focusing on the need for increased funding for special education and transitional kindergarten. Gift donations were recognized, and the ASB Sports Auction was mentioned.
