The Planning Commission conducted a session to address several key items. Public hearings were held for a conditional use permit regarding a proposed food market, during which operational and landscaping details were discussed and ultimately approved. Additionally, a tentative parcel map for a property on Danenberg Drive was reviewed and approved. The commission also received a departmental report from the Community Development Department, which included a summary of the community meeting for the Imperial Avenue Complete Streets Plan.

The Planning Commission meeting focused on New Business items, specifically the appointment of the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson for 2024, with Commissioner Popejoy and Commissioner Perez appointed to those respective roles. Additionally, a report regarding the Community Development Department's current projects and activities was presented as an informational item.

The City Council meeting addressed various community-focused agenda items, including a proclamation for Park and Recreation Month in recognition of the city's parks division and its staff. Additionally, the El Centro Rotary Club presented a proposal for the adoption and beautification of the park located at 8th and Vine Street to serve as a space for community engagement and special events. Public comments addressed concerns regarding the safety, environmental impact, and emergency service burdens of proposed data center projects within the region.

The council meeting included public comments regarding police surveillance and air pollution legislation. The council recognized the Central Union High School Spartan Choir and Spartan Guitar ensemble for their achievements at a music festival.
