The commission received an update from the Sheriff's Office regarding staffing, call volume, and safety reminders for residents. The commission held elections for the positions of Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. A new member was introduced to the board. Discussions included establishing a meeting schedule for the year, including the cancellation of the July meeting and a joint session with the City Council. The Fire Department provided a year-to-date call update and information regarding the delivery of a new ladder truck, and a progress report on the fire station design was presented.

The commission conducted annual business, including the appointment of a Vice-Chairperson for the upcoming year and a decision to maintain an every-other-month meeting schedule. Representatives from regional watershed districts presented opportunities for implementing environmentally friendly projects, such as raingardens and stormwater improvements, as well as potential soil health grants for specific park locations. Additionally, the commission received updates regarding early reconstruction plans for City Hall and the Fire Station.

The council received a presentation from the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office regarding crime trends, staffing levels, the implementation and data privacy concerns related to license plate reader camera technology, and operational partnerships. Additionally, the city attorney provided a briefing on current legal case trends, including theft and traffic violations, as well as the efficacy of diversion programs. Finally, staff provided updates on various infrastructure and public works projects, including sanitary sewer access paths, construction bidding status for Greenhaven, wetland project progress, and the acquisition of a new ladder truck.

The meeting agenda includes the approval of financial claims, a personnel action regarding the promotion and job description update for a staff member, and the acceptance of committee minutes. A public hearing is scheduled concerning a public nuisance abatement order at 364 East County Road F. Additionally, the Council will discuss and consider updates to the Public Outdoor Event Policy.

The meeting focused on various agenda items including public hearings for zoning code amendments related to body art establishments, massage therapy businesses, and cannabis-related definitions.
