The committee discussed the rescheduling of the Department of the Month program, agreeing to move the event to October and feature individual poster boards for each Commissioner with assistance from Public Health staff. It was also determined that the Department of the Month recognition should transition to a quarterly schedule starting in 2027.

The board discussed multiple operational and administrative matters for the new Government Center, including security checkpoint staffing and equipment needs, information desk and Veteran Services Office support models, and strategies for establishing a passport acceptance office. Additionally, the board explored parking solutions, reviewed the county's financial contribution to the Great River Regional Library system, and evaluated restructuring options for University of Minnesota Extension shared positions following proposed changes from a partner county.

The board meeting included an update on the Regal Solar Project in Benton County, covering construction progress, project timeline, and economic benefits including estimated tax revenues and school district contributions. Additionally, the board approved a landscaping package for the new government center, which includes concrete edging and irrigation, and reviewed and approved a series of project changes related to cabling, audiovisual requirements, and furniture coordination for the government center.

The Planning Commission discussed two conditional use permit applications. The first, File #26-135, involved a request to construct a storage structure in an R-2 Residential District prior to building a home, which was approved. The second, File #26-134, involved a request for recreational vehicle sales in a B-2 Business District, which was also approved with specific conditions regarding hours of operation, traffic management, and adherence to development codes. Additionally, the commission held a discussion with the Assistant County Attorney regarding planning procedures.

The Planning Commission meeting addressed several land use permit requests. Key topics included the approval of an interim use permit for a home extended business involving soap manufacturing and sales, an interim use permit for a second dwelling for supportive care, and a conditional use permit for the construction of a livestock waste storage facility. The commission also discussed and reached a consensus on adjusting future meeting dates for September and October to accommodate annual scheduling conflicts.
