Saline Area Schools' 'Saline 2000' is a community-wide educational improvement plan outlining a strategic direction through twelve Key Elements of Instruction. These elements include Basic Skills, Authentic Assessment, Outcomes Based Education, Integrated Interdisciplinary Curriculum, Multiple Intelligences, Heterogeneous Grouping, Higher Order Thinking, Student Centered Instruction, Reality Based Education, Cooperative Learning, Service Learning, and Collaborative Teaching. The plan aims to prepare students with the knowledge, technological proficiency, and personal skills necessary for success in an increasingly complex local and global society and a dynamic work environment, fostering responsible citizens, collaborative contributors, self-directed learners, competent communicators, effective thinkers, and healthy life-style managers.

Key discussion topics included administrative updates on the 3-Year DEI Plan, student demographic data analysis, athletic department cultural training, and the development of communication strategies for social identity incidents. The committee explored methods for enhancing public engagement, including potential open house formats and procedures for public comment. Subcommittees reported on various tasks, such as creating gender-neutral forms, reviewing dress and grooming policies, addressing hate speech guidance, and improving support for students with IEPs. The meetings also involved planning for board presentations and coordinating efforts with external consultants.

The board meeting featured a student showcase, updates from the superintendent and various committees, and the presentation of an audit report. Key action items included the acceptance of the audit report, the adoption of an annual summer tax resolution for 2026, and the award of a contract to Monroe Heating and Cooling Co. for a district-wide filter replacement project. Additionally, the board held discussions regarding the 2026 board calendar and policy committee updates, and authorized payments for the general and bond funds.
