The meeting featured a spotlight on teaching and learning, recognizing national qualifiers from career and technical student organizations such as FBLA, FFA, TSA, and Skills USA. It also honored schools receiving the Capturing Kids Hearts national showcase recognition and celebrated a grant award for the South Greenville Elementary School media center. Additionally, the board recognized Teacher Appreciation Week and School Nurse Appreciation Week. The meeting concluded with a period for public expression.

The board discussed the first reading of a new policy section regarding drug-free and alcohol-free workplace standards, which outlines prohibited activities, applicability, search procedures, duty to report, consequences for violations, and pre-employment screening. Additionally, the meeting included a review of various policies concerning non-retaliation, substitute teachers, work schedules and overtime, compliance with state employment policies, various forms of employee leave, salary deductions, legal defense for employees, and return-to-work programs for work-related injuries.

The board motioned to enter a closed session to address confidential personnel information, consult with legal counsel to preserve attorney-client privilege, and discuss instructions regarding the judicial action Deminski v. Pitt County Board of Education.
