Beverly Hills City Council Traffic And Parking Committee Special Meeting
The committee meeting centered on a resident application from the 300 block of South Linden seeking peak hour left turn restrictions to address safety concerns and cut-through traffic. Staff presented a detailed traffic analysis and reviewed the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program guidelines, noting that while the application met support thresholds, it would likely divert traffic to adjacent residential streets. The Traffic and Parking Commission recommended denying the turn restriction, suggesting a holistic traffic study for the southwest area and increased police enforcement instead. Committee members discussed the historical lack of consensus on neighborhood traffic calming and emphasized the need for a balanced approach that does not simply shift traffic problems between residential streets.
