The School Choice Plan for Assumption Parish Schools, developed in accordance with the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act, outlines comprehensive procedures for providing parents with options to transfer their children to higher-performing schools. Key components of the plan include detailing opportunities for transferring students to higher-performing schools, establishing guidelines for transportation, defining specific timelines for school choice actions, protocols for parental notification, and requirements for school improvement plans for identified schools. The plan aims to facilitate improved educational outcomes for students in schools failing to meet performance score levels.

The meeting included a prayer, pledge of allegiance, and adoption of the agenda. The board adopted resolutions of sympathy for Mr. Alfred Diggs and Miss Sharon Claymore. The Pierre Port Elementary School baseball and softball teams were recognized and honored as parish and tournament champions. AHS BAS team members Ridge Mail and Evan Oakquin were recognized for placing as state runner-up at the 2025 BAS state championship. AHS students were recognized and honored for placing at the state literary rally. The Assumption High School softball team was recognized for placing second at the state competition. The board adopted a resolution to appoint a representative to serve on the local IT industrial tax exemption program committee. The superintendent was authorized to advertise for food, paper goods, cleaning supplies, chemicals, and milk. The board adopted current millage rates and discussed assembly board management software fees.

The meeting included presentations on Ascent and a Family Summer Support Toolkit to prevent summer learning loss. Discussion also covered SEAP procedures, Special Olympics participation, and planning for monthly awareness activities. Chair nominations were postponed to the next meeting.

Discussions included the roles and responsibilities of the committee chair and backup, the upcoming Special Olympics, and the option of cameras in classrooms. A question was raised regarding sensory room schedules and their use on an as-needed basis.

Discussion topics included SEAP co-chair nominations, ESY Summer School, and the proposal of sub-committee meeting dates. Additional topics included SEAP proposed procedures, calendar, activities, and monthly themes for the 23/24 school year.
