This Work Plan outlines the responsibilities and mission of the Planning and Design Commission for the City of Coronado. This strategic plan, titled 'Coronado CREATES,' outlines a 10-year master plan for arts and culture in the City of Coronado. It aims to develop arts and cultural resources, foster a vibrant and cohesive arts community, strengthen arts education, and enhance cultural tourism and economic development. The plan is structured around three main goals: providing varied opportunities for community engagement in arts and culture, expanding public and private investment in cultural organizations and artists, and establishing cultural place-making and arts venues. The overarching vision is for Coronado to be a vibrant city with excellent, diverse, accessible, and authentic arts, culture, heritage, and creative resources by 2028.

The workshop provided an overview of the housing element, including its purpose and the reasons for the city's update process. Demographics and housing in Coronado were discussed, along with the regional housing needs assessment (RHNA). The next steps in the update process were outlined, and time was devoted to answering questions from the audience. The city's goals for the future and future housing needs were also addressed.

The workshop focused on Coronado's Climate Action Plan, including the city's current and projected future greenhouse gas emissions. It covered the purpose of the climate action plan, Comet Coronado public engagement platform, climate action plan inventory and forecast summary, benefits of a climate action plan, and reduction measures. The discussion included the stages and elements of a climate action plan, the difference between the community and the municipal inventory, and the draft inventory.

The Climate Action Plan focuses on strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the city. Key areas include promoting electric vehicles, expanding public transit, encouraging solar energy use, and diverting organic waste from landfills. The plan aims to achieve a 39% reduction below 2016 baseline emissions by 2030. It emphasizes community engagement, collaboration with regional entities, and the development of an implementation plan to guide specific actions and track progress.
