The Board meeting included a report on a successful regional pesticide takeback event held across four counties. The Board adopted proclamations declaring May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month and as Affordable Housing Month. Additionally, the Board proclaimed May as Older Americans Month, highlighting the historical context and ongoing efforts to support aging citizens. Presentations were made regarding mental health awareness, affordable housing challenges for the workforce, and the importance of resource access for both youth and seniors.

The Board adopted the Findings of Fact and rendered a decision regarding the assessment appeal for Ridgemark Golf & Country Club, Inc. for tax years 2004, 2005, and 2006. The Clerk of the Board was directed to send the findings to the relevant parties.

The board discussed and took action on the Sheriff's Staffing Plan for the new courthouse, including position classifications and a one-time contribution from the Court for security services. They also reviewed a Memorandum of Understanding for security services and discussed the need for long-term funding solutions, ultimately approving the staffing plan and the agreement. Additionally, the board held a closed session to discuss anticipated litigation.

The San Benito County Broadband Planning Effort is focused on developing a regional broadband strategy for last-mile infrastructure across the county. This strategic plan will include a comprehensive analysis of broadband benefits, market conditions, policies, and community needs, with a particular emphasis on digital equity and inclusion. Key objectives are to identify underserved populations, prioritize projects, and secure funding to ensure high-speed, reliable, and affordable broadband connectivity for all residents, aligning with the State of California's 'Broadband for All' initiative.
