Rochester Institute of Technology Strategic Plan 2017-2025
This strategic plan, implemented during President Munson's eight-year tenure, focused on several key areas including attracting top talent (people and programs), enhancing campus facilities (places), and fostering strong external collaborations (partnerships). A core element was leveraging RIT's unique intersection of technology, arts, and design to elevate student quality and institutional distinctiveness. Key initiatives included increasing research funding and PhD programs, improving student retention and graduation rates through academic support and vibrant student life, and significant upgrades to facilities such as the Shed, library, research labs, athletic stadium, and a new performing arts theater. The plan aimed for increased national recognition, higher rankings, a broader socioeconomic reach, and maximizing RIT's positive impact on society through alumni achievements and faculty recognition, with particular attention to integrating the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) more centrally into the university's research mission.
