The council held public hearings for rezoning requests and a Specific Use Permit for a general store. Discussions included the TWDB Financial Resolution, an incentive improvement program for historic properties, a proposed bicycle and motorized scooter safety public event, and the fiscal year 2026-2027 budget. Additionally, the council reviewed the accounts payable and financial reports for May 2026, and held an executive session to consult with the attorney regarding interlocal agreements and personnel matters related to the City Administrator.

The commission conducted public hearings and subsequent deliberations regarding two primary items: a request to rezone a property located at 700 NE Big Bend Tr from R-1 Single Family Residential District to B-2 General Commercial District, and a request for a Specific Use Permit to allow for the operation of a general store and kitchen-based instructional classes at 103 SW Barnard St within a B-3 Central Business District zone.

The meeting included the recognition of incoming and outgoing councilmembers, the administration of oaths of office, and the election of a Mayor Pro Tem. Public hearings were held regarding various variance requests, including signage and setbacks. Additionally, the council discussed contracts for grant administration, accepted a donation from historical foundations, addressed parking and street signage, considered renaming the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and reviewed board memberships. Departmental reports were presented, and the council entered an executive session to deliberate on real property, legal consultations, and personnel matters.

The Preservation Commission discussed a Certificate of Appropriateness application for 103 SW Barnard St, received an update on the 2nd Quarter THC First Street Initiative, reviewed plans for the Heritage Park to be added to the National Registry of Historic Places District, and summarized outcomes from the Real Places Conference.

The commission agenda included the appointment of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary. Discussions were held regarding a Certificate of Appropriateness application for signage at 300 NE Barnard St and an application for the City Tax Credit Incentive Program for 115 W Elm. Additionally, the commission considered the potential creation of a Facebook page for the group and reviewed an application from Jeff Lee to fill a vacancy on the commission. Workshop topics included the First Street Initiative, Heritage Park historic buildings, and a historic walking tour map.
