Northwest State Community College is committed to increasing the college attainment rate within its six-county service area to 65%. This vision aims to expand access to affordable, high-quality education through initiatives like college credit plus, enhance learner support services, foster strong partnerships with local businesses and organizations, and continuously innovate curriculum and delivery methods.
The Northwest State Community College Board of Trustees received a check from the NSCC Foundation designated for student scholarships, equipment, outreach programs, and student support efforts. The FY 2025-2026 budget was passed, allocating funds for strategic initiatives. The Board approved a one-year extension of the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. Additionally, the board approved several employment contracts, promotions, and transitions, a new Paraprofessional Certificate program, a Statement of Commitment, an amended Employee Performance Appraisal Policy, and a new Faculty Workload Policy.
The Northwest State Community College Board of Trustees convened and approved amended Institutional / General Education Learning Outcomes (ILOs) defining the qualities of graduates as professional, lifelong learners, and responsible global citizens. These outcomes encompass communication, critical and creative thinking, quantitative reasoning/literacy, and ethical responsibility in a diverse society. Bonnie Stuckey was honored for her 30 years of service to the campus with a tree dedication. The board also approved several employment contracts, transfers, resignations, and one retirement.
The Northwest State Community College Board of Trustees convened and approved the 2023-2024 College Audit, which was prepared by Plattenburg & Associates and reviewed by the NSCC Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and the State of Ohio's Auditor's Office. The college earned an "unmodified" result, indicating no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies were found. The Board also approved two new agriculture programs and the deactivation of one STEM/Industrial Tech certificate program. Additional actions included approving employment contracts, a transfer, the 2024 Affordability & Efficiency Report, a date change for the February 2025 Board meeting, resignations, and a retirement.
