Marshtown Community School District Regular Board Meeting
The meeting commenced with introductions and the reading of the mission statement and Pledge of Allegiance. The agenda was amended to include a moment of silence for a recently deceased high school counselor and a former graduate serving in the National Guard, as well as to act on course proposals presented previously. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to recognizing three former junior high coaches and teachers for their instrumental influence on students' character development. Furthermore, the Marshalltown High School esports program was recognized for a historic season, including two top finishes at the state tournament in Rainbow Six Siege and Smash Bros, and corresponding trophies were presented. The Board also received recognition for achieving the Board Achievement Award for the second consecutive year, with all seven members and the Superintendent hitting the 15-hour credit threshold for board development. The consent agenda included minutes from the special meeting of December 3rd and the regular meeting of December 1st, and personnel items concerning three new early retirement incentives.
