These objectives are supported by strategies such as high-quality instruction, differentiated practice, curriculum-based assessments, individualized planning, social-emotional learning, and trauma-informed practices.

The subcommittee discussed promoting local foods in school meals, including applying for a milk grant. They reviewed policy changes for the Health & Wellness Charter and Policy, and maintained current membership with a potential update to remove term limits. A review of community mental health resources was conducted. Creative art therapies and their positive impact on students were also discussed. Finally, educator wellness and the upcoming annual Health Fair were mentioned.

The subcommittee received a food service report covering scratch cooking, new recipes, student input, recycling and composting. A discussion on mental health focused on creating a framework for community needs and brainstorming community involvement strategies. Student representatives were introduced to the subcommittee.

The meeting included a food service report reviewing menu changes, a student report on midterms and VAASA membership, and a Project AWARE report providing an overview of school health regulations, PE and health education frameworks, and the CDC's framework for addressing health in schools. Discussion also included the Health & Wellness Charter and Policy review, health and wellness membership, mental health community resources, and Rhode Island school health regulations.
