The strategic plan focuses on improving Land Management and related Economic Development in the territory. It aims to address issues in land use planning and to enable community members to access financing. The plan incorporates recommendations on Land Management and economic development and provides a clear action implementation plan. It also focuses on financial and human resource challenges within the community and includes recommendations to access outside financial resources and build human resource and infrastructure capacity from within the community.

The University of Winnipeg's Strategic Research Agenda (2020-2023) outlines key research thrusts and objectives aligned with its strategic directions: Academic Excellence and Renewal; Student Experience and Success; Indigenization; Research Excellence, Knowledge Mobilization, and Impact; and Financial and Institutional Resilience. Ten key research thrusts are identified, including Applied Health and Medical Research, Cultural Studies, Environmental Studies, Experimental Physics, Advanced Research Computing, Indigenous Development, Materials Science, Planetary Science, Urban Studies, and Justice and Access to Legal Information. The plan emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, infrastructure development, faculty recruitment, knowledge mobilization, and a commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). Success will be measured by increased interdisciplinary research teams, enhanced national/international participation, strengthened external relationships, expanded knowledge transfer, and a strengthened EDI research environment.
