The board meeting featured public forum sessions where residents raised concerns. One resident discussed ongoing construction issues, including noise, debris, and complications with a sewer lateral hookup, leading the board to direct staff to address these problems and coordinate a resolution. Another resident requested assistance with obtaining appropriately sized trash and recycling bins, which the board agreed to facilitate.

The board meeting primarily addressed rate setting resolutions for the upcoming fiscal year. The board approved a 3% increase in water and wastewater rates and a 2% increase in sanitation service charges. Additionally, the board held an open forum where a member of the public raised concerns regarding infrastructure upgrades and long-term groundwater monitoring at the Escambia Wood treatment Superfund site in relation to proposed industrial development.
The board discussed several items, including an update on the closing of Santa Rosa Sound after the Blue Angel Air Show, a progress report on backflow preventers, and the McCorvy water treatment plant timeline. General resolutions were passed, including the authorization for an engineering service proposal from HDR Engineering, Inc. for the replacement of a water treatment facility at the Haggler well using PFAS settlement funds, an extension of the contract with Calgon Carbon Corporation for carbon media supply, and a renewal of the electric motor and pump repair agreement with Gulf Coast Electric Motor. Staff clarified that while the requirement for backflow preventers was part of a consent order, they are actively seeking solutions and pausing enforcement regarding water disconnection.
The board meeting included the recognition of recycling program supporters and the adoption of multiple resolutions. These resolutions covered various infrastructure and operational needs, such as engineering service proposals for treatment facilities, contract extensions for water treatment chemicals, equipment purchases for water reclamation facilities, and ground maintenance contracts. The board also ratified an emergency water main extension, authorized the inventory purchase of water meters, and approved comprehensive insurance renewal agreements for employees while absorbing medical premium cost increases.
