The committee meeting covered an investment and economic update provided by CIBC Wood Gundy and a review of the 2026 Winter Maintenance Program. Additionally, the committee heard presentations regarding the Alberta Capital Airshed, the Sherwood Park Highland Gathering, and the Strathcona County Boys and Girls Club.

The council discussed and approved several items, including a 2026 urban service area farm tax cancellation, a borrowing bylaw amendment, and changes to the 2026 meeting schedule. Multiple community funding expenditures were approved for various local organizations and events. The council also authorized accepting an ambulance services contract with Alberta Emergency Health Services, affecting the 2026 Emergency Services Operating Budget, and rescinded and replaced the Privacy and Access Policy. A closed session was held to discuss Bill 28 (Municipal Affairs and Housing Statutes Amendment Act, 2026), and a motion was passed to send a letter expressing concerns regarding the bill to the Minister of Municipal Affairs. Additionally, a notice of motion was served regarding the feasibility of developing an RV sewage dump station.

The council meeting included a formal call to order and territorial acknowledgement. The agenda was adopted with the addition of a capital planning presentation. Council entered into a closed session to conduct a facilitated workshop regarding capital planning, specifically discussing advice from officials and economic interests of the municipality, before reverting to an open session with no resulting motions.

The meeting involved the approval of community funding expenditures for local sports teams and the amendment of community funding and elected officials' expense policies. The council authorized a capital budget adjustment for traffic calming initiatives and directed administration to prepare a report on bicycle parking infrastructure. Decisions were made regarding intermunicipal collaboration frameworks and development plans, as well as the approval of amendments to industrial tax exemption bylaws. Following a closed session, the council moved to pursue the reallocation of provincial policing resources. Additionally, a councillor was endorsed for a position on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board of Directors.

The council conducted public hearings regarding several land use bylaws and municipal matters. Key actions included the first, second, and third readings for Bylaw 23-2026 concerning land rezoning in Ward 5. The council also processed Bylaw 24-2026 and Bylaw 25-2026, which involved adopting an area structure plan and rezoning land in Ward 5. Additionally, the council approved multiple readings for Bylaw 22-2026 regarding land rezoning in Ward 1 and authorized the removal of a Municipal Reserve designation for a specific property in Ward 5.
