The committee approved the site plan for Maple Glenn, contingent upon meeting staff requirements, and reviewed the renewal of the site plan for a 216 Sanders Ferry assisted living facility, which included a waiver for a shed and requirements for increased parking capacity. Additionally, the commission approved a revision to the YMCA Pavilion site plan, allowing for a reduction in brick facade in favor of fiber cement board, provided that significant landscaping buffers are maintained.

The board discussed the issue of e-bikes within community parks and the city, specifically regarding safety concerns on trails, with further in-depth discussion planned for July. Service awards were presented to city employees for their long-term commitment. Tournament director applications for USA Preps and USSSA were approved, pending coordination with staff for future dates. Additionally, an Eagle Scout project proposal to install new flag holders and an informational kiosk at Memorial Park was approved.

The committee discussed a resident's drainage issues and liability concerns, which will be addressed under other business. A resolution was introduced to adopt the 2026 City of Hendersonville Parks and Rec System wide master plan five-year update. The presentation covered community survey engagement, program assessments indicating growth in most leagues, and benchmarking data compared to cities with similar population sizes.

The commission reviewed the financial results and golf shop operations for the golf course, noting record-level rounds and income for the month. Maintenance activities were reported, and it was noted that a new green fee schedule would commence on the first of June.

The Council discussed the 2026 Arts Festival that recently took place, reviewing general feedback and observing increased attendance compared to previous years in anticipation of a full debrief. Additionally, the Council addressed a collaboration opportunity for the Ars Gloria statewide visual arts competition, focusing on potential cross-promotion with the Tennessee Press Association and the Tennessee Art League.
