This Chair's Report for Carleton University's Board of Governors summarizes activities and outlines strategic directions related to governance, accountability, and financial stewardship. Key focus areas include the implementation of an updated Enterprise Risk Management policy, oversight of the 2026/27 consolidated operating and ancillary budget, and a commitment to diversity and continuous learning. A significant part of the report is dedicated to 'Strategic Visioning,' which explores the University's future towards its centennial in 2042, envisioning Carleton as a global leader in human-centered, AI-enabled education, characterized by a vibrant, inclusive campus and strong community integration.

The meeting included the presentation of the Strategic Integrated Plan Annual Report and the annual reports from the President and the Board Chair. Discussions focused on the university's strategic visioning exercise, Toward Carleton@100, which aims to shape priorities leading up to the institution's centennial in 2042. Updates were provided on academic program developments, research achievements, student experience initiatives, and sustainability efforts. Additionally, the Board reviewed administrative operations, financial oversight frameworks, and committee reports concerning governance, risk management, and community engagement.

The meeting included the approval of standing committee terms of reference and governance changes for the Institute of African Studies, the School of Canadian Studies, and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies. The board received information reports regarding the mental health framework, academic program modifications, and the university governance secretariat.

The Board of Governors approved the recipients for the Board Award for Outstanding Community Achievement and the Founders Award for the 2025/26 academic year. The Board also approved the Statements of Investment Policies and Procedures for both the Retirement Fund and Endowed Funds, as well as the compliance report for the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act. Additionally, the Board approved miscellaneous administrative fees and student association fees for the 2026/2027 period. Information items presented included reports on the Coordinated Accessibility Strategy, the Capital Renewal Plan, the Carleton Dominion Chalmers Centre, the Strive for Sustainability annual report, the Energy Master Plan, government relations, and Senate minutes.
