Isle of Wight County is developing a comprehensive Safety Action Plan, funded by the Federal Highway Administration's Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. The plan aims to provide safe and accessible roadways for all users by reducing roadway fatalities and serious injuries through a three-part strategy: identifying challenges, developing effective solutions, and evaluating safety measures. Key objectives include identifying high-risk safety areas, engaging residents and stakeholders, and ultimately striving to eliminate traffic-related injuries and fatalities. The development process, which includes data analysis (2020-2024 historical data), public engagement, and project selection, is slated to conclude in early 2026.
