New Orleans Regional Transit Authority Service Improvement Plan
The Algiers Service Improvement Plan aims to enhance public transportation on the West Bank (Algiers) by optimizing existing resources. Key objectives, identified through public feedback, include achieving more frequent service, facilitating quicker trips to downtown, ensuring better access to grocery stores, and maintaining connectivity to critical transfer points. The plan proposes changes such as increasing downtown service frequency to 30 minutes, redesigning routes to bypass Wilty Terminal for faster commutes, and establishing a new transfer hub near the Aldi. These recommendations are expected to provide all Algiers communities with one-seat access to a grocery store and significantly improve job accessibility, allowing 41,000 more individuals to reach jobs within one hour, particularly benefiting high-ridership neighborhoods.
