Additional agenda items included a conditional use permit for an accessory dwelling unit and the approval of a new Battery Energy Storage System ordinance, which establishes safety and fire protection standards for future battery storage facilities.

The City of Smithville is launching an update to its 2019 Strategic Plan. This update process, commencing in Spring 2026, will utilize feedback from the 2025 Citizen Satisfaction Survey. Key areas for improvement identified from the survey include communication, street maintenance, water and wastewater system maintenance, and overall perceptions of the City. The plan aims to develop performance measures to track progress towards community goals and refine the city's future direction.
