This document details the Royalton-Hartland Central School District's Smart Schools Investment Plan, designed to enhance teaching and learning through strategic technology acquisition and integration. The plan focuses on utilizing Smart Schools Bond Act funds primarily for classroom technology equipment, including interactive panels and wireless cameras. Key objectives involve improving differentiated instruction, expanding student learning opportunities, benefiting students with disabilities and English language learners, and bridging learning gaps. The plan also outlines commitments to professional development for staff, ensuring technological proficiency and effective incorporation of technology into instruction, and a long-term strategy for the sustainability and replacement of technology assets.

The meeting included a work session focusing on the draft budget presentation for 2026-2027 and a discussion on establishing new Board goals, specifically concerning community engagement. Key actions included the approval of an overnight trip for the Varsity Wrestling team to a championship. Personnel actions involved the retroactive appointment of two long-term substitute teachers (Special Education and School Counselor) and the appointment of a new long-term substitute Elementary Education teacher, alongside the appointment of several spring sports coaches and the addition of one cleaner substitute. The board also approved the removal of certain individuals from the substitute cleaner list and approved John Grzymala as an occasional driver. Business and Finance items included the grateful acceptance of two separate donations from the Royalton-Hartland Agriculture Foundation and the National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization, and the approval of a change order (C-103) for the Capital Improvement Project 2024 related to ceiling demolition and roof support installation. Instructors for the Spring 2026 Community Education Program were also approved.

The special meeting included an executive session conducted to discuss the employment history and possible dismissal of a particular person. In the subsequent open session under Personnel, the retroactive approval of Elizabeth Zastrow as a Zumba Instructor for the Spring 2026 Community Education Program was approved. Under Business and Finance, the Board gratefully accepted a donation of various snack items and winter mittens from DonorsChoose for Amy Samuels' project, which prompted a brief discussion regarding the nature of the DonorsChoose program and item selection.

The committee discussed various technology-related topics, including StudentSquare/Parent Square updates, staff and coach education, and the exploration of ways to collect student phone numbers. Securly updates were provided, addressing glitches and the rollout of dedicated kiosks. The end of support for Windows 10 was discussed, with plans for temporary support and the acquisition of ClearTouch panels. Password protocols for students in grades 5-12 were reviewed, and the Technology Plan for 2026 was discussed, including a new goal focused on balanced technology use. Other topics included the adoption of StudentSquare, Securly updates, the Windows 10 end-of-life, and interactive panels for instruction. The committee also discussed the implementation of iBoss Classroom Management, Toshiba copier updates, and the district's AI approach.

The meeting included discussions about the Sica resolution for the 2020 capital outlay project and the approval of a professional service agreement. There was also a discussion about a board meeting to reflect on the current school year and for board development. Updates were provided on closing out the school year, picking up personal belongings, virtual celebrations, and commencement plans. Information was shared regarding the budget vote and board elections, along with updates on construction projects.
