City Council Budget Hearing
The council convened for a budget hearing to discuss departmental budget reviews, focusing on proposed personnel restructuring within the Information Technology department. Key topics included the decision to unfund a website and social media coordinator position, the addition of hardware/software technician roles, and the transition of an assistant IT manager role to a systems administrator position. There was also an in-depth discussion regarding the centralization of software subscription costs under the IT budget and the need for secure, itemized breakdowns of IT infrastructure and software platforms, which prompted a debate about the handling of sensitive/confidential information between council members and the department director.
